Drying

Drying is a thermodynamic process in which a solvent e.g. water is extracted from a material. During the drying process heat and mass is transferred between the product and the surrounding gas. A correlation could be made between relative ambient humidity and product moisture in so-called sorption isotherms. The drying process in fluid bed units can be well depicted in the hx-diagram (Mollier-diagram).

Dust free

Granules of a particle size >100 µm are called dust-free. In agglomeration resp. granulation processes the reduction of the fine powder content is a basic target, as high amount of dust causes negative product characteristics.
