GAMP 4

In the pharmaceutical industry Good Automated Manufacturing Practice are rules and standards for the suppliers of computer based systems and is used for validation of these systems. GAMP 4 was already developed in the nineties and therefore it does not present the latest technical state of art. Therefore meanwhile the standard GAMP 5 has been introduced.

GAMP 5

In the pharmaceutical industry Good Automated Manufacturing Practice are rules and standards for the suppliers of computer based systems and is used for validation of these systems. GAMP 5 is successor of GAMP 4 which was developed in the nineties. GAMP 5 presents a Best-Practice approach covering the latest technical state of art. Special attention is given to the economic appliance of the rules and standards.

Gas distribution

In a fluid bed apparatus the fluidisation gas (usually air) is lead through an air distributor plate, which provides for a smooth gas distribution. Gas distributor plates are available in different designs, e.g. as sandwich bottom with perforated plates and sieve cloths, Conidur bottoms, slotted plates, air distributor plates and optiflow bottoms.

GMP

GMP = Good Manufacturing Practice describes the rules for the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.

Granulation

Granulation describes in general the production of granular substances by coalescence or disintegration. The granulation is one of the basic operations in the pharmaceutical production of solid dosage forms and usually describes the targeted coalescence of granular substances agglomeration.

Gravity discharge

Discharge of the material bowl of a fluid bed apparatus by gravity discharge e.g. by tilting the bowl or the air distributor plate so that the product is discharged vertically downwards.
