Pan coater

Rotating pan for production of sugar-coated dragées. The pan rotates around an inclined axis and might feature a drying device.

PAT

Process Analytical Technologies – With their initiative to establish an innovative pharma production with reproducible and high quality, the so-called PAT initiative, the FDA started to soften the highly regularised system. Aim is the introduction of a consistent monitoring and control of the complete production process by suitable inline measuring procedures. A fundamental target is the immediate release of the production to reduce the efforts for a separate offline sample analysis.

Pelletizing

Production of pellets by suitable processes, e.g. in a pellet line with the steps: production of wet granules in a mixer-granulator, production of extrudates, spheronization of the extrudates to pellets, drying of the pellets in a fluid bed apparatus.

Perforated drum / Perforated coating System

Perforated drum of a horizontal coater, through which supplies and discharges the warm process air used for drying is vented. Fully perforated drums and partially perforated drums are in use.

Pharmaceutical industry

Industrial branch for development, production and sales of pharmaceutical products. The production processes of the pharmaceutical industry follow strict guidelines to guarantee the safety of the products, processes and human beings. DIOSNA is supplier for numerous pharmaceutical companies in the range of big pharma as well as big and small generics manufacturers.

Pilot Scale

After the laboratory scale the next size for production of bigger product amounts like e.g. clinical samples. Pilot plants have a nominal volume of approx. 20 l to 150 l.

Plug & Play

Concept of the DIOSNA laboratory machines for easy start-up of the plants just by connecting the electrical and pneumatic supply media.

Pneumatic discharge

Discharge e.g. of a fluid bed apparatus with help of a pneumatic conveying device. The product is sucked out of the fluid bed dryer by the generated vacuum of the conveying device through a conveying pipe and separated into a discharge bowl. As the pneumatic conveying allows a pull over of the product, a horizontal product flow is possible. Downstream the separator the dried granules usually flow through a dry mill into a final product container.

Powder

Fine-grained product, which mostly contains a high dust fraction < 100 µm and shows unfavourable characteristics regarding flow characteristics and handling. In the course of the granulation the product is coarsened and the flow behaviour and the general handling characteristics for the further processing are improved.

Powder layering

Special technology to cover core materials with a powder layer. Big load amounts are possible.

Pressure shock proof

A pressure-shock-resistant bowl resists an explosion up to the indicated explosion pressure (12 bar for DIOSNA mixers and fluid bed plants). A slight deformation of the bowl is allowed (extended utilisation of material strength).

Production Scale

After laboratory and pilot scale follows the production scale to effect the production of the product in an economical scale to cover the sales volume. The aim is to transfer effectively the perception of suitable process parameters from the smaller pre-stages (laboratory-/pilot scale) to the bigger production plant (scale-up), to achieve the required product quality preferably instantly.
